Site Description
There are two component parts of the site:
1) Cors Fochno and Dyfi which is located south of the Dyfi River below 10m a. s. l.
2) Cors Caron which is in Mid Wales and is at an altitude of 160m a. s. l.
These bogs, around the River Teifi and Dyfi estuary in Wales contain the most intact surviving example in the UK of a raised bog landscape. Despite having suffered extensive damage as a consequence of past drainage and peat cutting, they still maintain a good quality of active bog vegetation, including bryophytes, sedges and vascular plants.

Botanical Significance
Noted for bryophyte interest of bogs.
Cor Caron: The vegetation of the mire expanse shows an usually wide range of variation, including areas rich in bog-mosses Sphagnum spp., (exhibiting a small-scale hummock-hollow topography), areas dominated by heather Calluna vulgaris, and areas in which both purple moor-grass Molinia caerulea and deergrass Trichophorum cespitosum are major components - SSSI citation).
