Site Description
The Chudeligh Rocks IPA comprises a series of shaded and open Devonian Limestone rock outcrops set within species-rich deciduous woodland on the south and south-west facing slopes above the Kate Brook. The rocks lie at c. 50 – 100 m.
Botanical Significance
The saxicolous lichens and bryophytes which grow on the rocks, particularly where they are shaded, are of regional significance and include Caloplaca cirrochroa, Dermatocarpon miniatum and Verrucaria coerulea. The site is most significant for the occurrence of the lichen Catapyrenium psoromoides.
