Site Description
Lordenshaw, Forest Burn is situated within Simonside Hills SSSI. It is currently used as rough pasture, and this helps support a variety of moorland plant species and a very rare bryophyte Selageria oelandica.

Botanical Significance
Forest Burn itself is a watercourse which supports a very rare bryophyte Seligeria carniolica. This site represents the only site that this bryophyte can be found in the UK where it is found on rocks on shaded stream banks. This species is classified as Critically Endangered in Britain, and Endangered in the rest of Europe
