Management guidance notes
The rich fen system on Anglesey is a rare type of wetland, fed by calcareous springs, that was once much more extensive than it is today. The large area of fen is characterised by reeds, sedges and rushes, among which orchids and insectivorous plants may be found. This is the best Welsh site for stoneworts and there are also areas of acid wet heath which support populations of brilliant blue marsh gentians in late summer.
